Once a policy is purchased, the effective date cannot change. As a producer, you could cancel and rewrite a new policy with the correct start date, as long as the date has not passed. If canceled, the insured receives a full refund as long as the policy hasn’t started yet. If the policy has started, then the insured will receive a pro-rated refund calculated on a short-rate basis of the unused premium.
End dates are a bit more flexible, as long as the policy hasn’t ended. You can set annual policies to auto-renew and Thimble Monthly policies to auto extend each month. For our On Demand policies, you can extend the end date, but it must be processed before the policy ends. Once a policy reaches its end time, you can no longer extend the end date/time.
