CGL - Is bodily injury or property damage associated with mold excluded from General Liability coverage?

Exposure to harmful mold can result in health issues, while indoor mold infestation can lead to property damage. If a client claims that these conditions have arisen because of the work you have done — for example, the installation of a leaky HVAC that creates a damp environment for mold to grow — you may be liable for the costs associated with the damage.

You will not be covered for mold-related claims that fall under the fungi/bacteria exclusion. The following events are not covered by our insurance:

  • Bodily injury or property damage arising out of the inhalation of, ingestion of, or exposure to fungi or bacteria in a building

  • Any loss, cost, or expense associated with monitoring, cleaning up, containing, or in any way responding to or assessing the effects of fungi or bacteria
